Community Infrastructure Levy

Your Conservative-led Council is keen to see funds generated from commercial developers put to the best possible use. Westminster City Council’s Community Infrastructure Levy (“CIL”) was formally introduced in May 2016, and by August 2019 the Council had received £60m.

Around 15% of the total - some £7.4million - has been allocated towards local projects, where the spend is agreed with local neighbourhood communities. Our Ward lies in the district covered by the Marylebone Forum - see below.

Over the past two years the Council has been developing a strategy for allocating funds raised from CIL. One of our local Councillors, Richard Beddoe, Deputy Leader (Strategy) is in charge of CIL and can help you get answers to any queries you may have.

The first neighbourhood CIL bidding round was launched in June. Applications were supported by ‘surgeries’ where interested parties met with officers to discuss the process and potential projects. Following the close of the application period in September, all proposals were assessed against the agreed criteria as defined in the Council’s CIL Spending Policy Statement.

Marylebone Forum

Bryanston and Dorset Square CIL Ward Funds are grouped with Marylebone High Street Ward. These funds are managed by the Marylebone Neighbourhood Forum and raised through building projects within the Marylebone Forum boundaries. Your Councillors take a keen interest in projects and attend the Forum Meetings. You can find out more here.

Local Funding for Local Projects

Your councillors are keen to help unlock Council funding for local projects in our area, and always welcome new ideas!

We have secured funding for new trees which have already been planted locally,

Westminster AgeUK run iTea Parties for the benefit of Senior Citizens who would like to explore IT in a relaxed way and we have arranged for these to be held at the Seymour Leisure Centre. The next one is on Thursday 7 November from 2 - 4pm.

We are also committing funds to Connected Lives, a charity providing advice to new parents and young couples.

Having worked with Fourth Feathers Youth Club (above Andrew Mederick with Cllr Barbara Arzymanow at Fourth Feathers) on various projects, we are pleased to be finalising another proposal with them. We are proud that the Fourth Feathers is one of Westminster’s four chosen Hubs.

Donors

Your Councillors welcome donations from individuals and businesses to cover activities that enhance our neighbourhood.

We are humbled by the generosity of a private donor who came forward to fund a community event locally. We will be keen to attract local children to participate in turning on the lights on the first Christmas tree in Wyndham Place on 4th December.

More Police in Marylebone

Tuesday, 3 June, 2025
The single most important issue that residents tell us matters to them is feeling safe when walking around the area.

Unfortunately, we regularly receive reports about shoplifting in Marylebone. We have managed to get the council to install several CCTV cameras.
