Alan Bradley

It is with much regret that we have to tell you that the former Tachbrook councillor Alan Bradley has died after a long illness.

Alan served the people of Pimlico as a councillor for 36 years, until 2014, and made Pimlico his home for over fifty years.

Alan won an open scholarship to Cambridge to study mathematics, and went on to qualify and practise as an actuary. He was elected to Westminster City Council in 1978 and quickly became part of the leadership team. He chaired most major committees, and was Cabinet Member for Community Protection and afterwards the Environment. He was Lord Mayor in 1995-1996, describing it as a year of fairy dust. As a councillor he worked tirelessly over the years to defend Pimlico as a village in the heart of London. When he stood down from the council in 2014 he was awarded the title of Honorary Alderman. He was a trustee of many charities including the Westminster Tree Trust, and you may find a tree in St George’s Square planted to recognise his work. He is much missed by his family, friends and colleagues.  RIP.

More Police in Marylebone

Tuesday, 3 June, 2025
The single most important issue that residents tell us matters to them is feeling safe when walking around the area.

Unfortunately, we regularly receive reports about shoplifting in Marylebone. We have managed to get the council to install several CCTV cameras.
