With the fantastic work being carried out by outreach teams in charitable organisations appointed by Westminster City Council, numbers of people still rough sleeping on the street were low over the Christmas period.
Outreach teams successfully helped several rough sleepers into accommodation and reconnected some with their families. There are still a few areas where those rough sleepers, who are reluctant to accept offers of help, still gather. The offers of support that have been made to them remain in place.
The Council also continues to work with the police for them to act against the criminals, particularly drug dealers, who target this vulnerable population. Tackling rough sleeping, and issues associated with it, remains one of Conservative-led Westminster City Council’s top priorities.
