Our local MP Nickie Aiken has secured Government support for her pedicabs licensing scheme.

This will provide TfL with the powers to regulate pedicabs, ensuring that they are safe, that their fares are reasonable, and that rogue operators are appropriately disciplined.

In the meantime, Council officers continue their joint operations with Soho Police to crack down on pedicab riders using loudspeakers late at night. During an operation on 29 July, eight pedicab riders were found playing music to unreasonable levels past 9 pm.

Councillor Tim Mitchell says

“Pedicabs’ excessive noise levels are proving a real nuisance for people living and working in our part of Westminster and businesses. Nickie’s legislation will put together a proper licensing process that will bring in the kind of controls we all want to see.”
