Pimlico South Action Team member and Council candidate Greg Conary spoke with Cllr James Spencer by Pimlico's popular St George's Square Dog Park.

Greg explains

I'm here at the St George's Square Dog Park and I'm meeting with Councillor James Spencer, who's a member of the Cabinet.

I would like to talk to you about some of the enhancements and the things that we're doing in this area.

As you know, dog ownership has been a level of comfort for people during COVID. Dog ownership in Westminster has increased 60% during that time.

So the dog parks have been very over utilised. It's caused suffering to the grounds and the facilities.

So I'd like to talk to Councillor James Spencer about what we've been doing to improve the facilities.

James explains the way in which the Dog Park has developed in recent years, including the popular dog fountain.

Well, we know that permanently re-turfing, permanently reseeding is not really an option for the long term for St George's Square Dog Park.

And it's something that we've invested in quite heavily over many, many years. I mean, this dog fountain, which is beloved by local dog walkers, was funded out of our own ward budget.

So we are committed to improving this.

And as I said, we have secured that funding, but we now need to begin that process of communicating with residents.

And with dog park users.

Terrific and as you can see, the new grass has been laid in half of the park. It's being watered now, and it's absolutely fantastic.

So I think it's going to be a terrific interim solution for the summer.
