Earlier this week, Conservative Council Group Leader Rachael Robathan wrote to Nickie Aiken, MP for the Cities of London & Westminster, flagging up concerns that although the majority of people living in Westminster were opposed to Labour Mayor Sadiq Khan's Park Lane Cycle Lane, their views were ignored by the Mayor.
58% of Westminster residents who responded said that the scheme would do nothing to encourage people to cycle, in fact, quite the reverse. For walking, it was even more stark at 72%. So, almost three-quarters of total responses from Westminster people said that the Park Lane Cycle Lane would be pointless or discourage active travel.
