Westminster City Council recently conducted a consultation on cycling contra-flow measures in the Pimlico Grid.
Unfortunately this was not well publicised, and even your councillors were only informed at the very last moment.
The three Pimlico North Councillors did however put in a representation, welcoming safety improvements for pedestrians and responsible cyclists, but asking that resident drivers not be inconvenienced.
We were particularly concerned about proposals to introduce many more double yellow lines, and some extra one-way streets for cars. Safer cycle routes through Pimlico will not divert those using the ‘cycle superhighway’ to commute along the Grosvenor Road, rather just make it safer for residents to cycle through Pimlico without being tempted to cycle on the pavement – which is dangerous for all.
