Marylebone Station

Since the last Ward Newsletter your Conservative Councillors have taken  further actions to reinforce the campaign against diesel trains at Marylebone Station.

Westminster Council Leader Rachael Robathan has arranged for a Breathe London Air Quality Sensor to be installed on Boston Place. The data from these sensors are analysed by Imperial College. The pollution levels are updated daily and can be viewed here.

Westminster has also joined forces with the leaders of the Birmingham and Oxford Councils. A joint letter was sent to the Transport Minister demanding:

  • To end the use of the most polluting (Class 68) diesel locomotives;
  • To immediately convert all other rolling stock from diesel to the cleaner GTL fuel; and
  • Provide a clear timeline for the adoption of hybrid technology across all rolling stock.

Cllr Barbara Arzymanow joined a Clean Air Action Day at Marylebone Station last week. The Leader and Officers were also at hand to answer questions and raise awareness of greener forms of transport. Westminster Parking Marshals came and spoke to idling drivers at the station. The bike doctors from Westminster Wheels also came. Find out more about them here.

Two-wheel travel, air monitoring and EV charging points are all helping to clean our air in Marylebone.

Hands Off Oxford Street!

Monday, 15 September, 2025
On Tuesday, the Deputy Mayor of London announced that Sadiq Khan would be taking over Oxford Street early, with Transport for London designated as the traffic authority for the street. It was clear by the nature of the announcement that Westminster City Council were not prepared for this.
