Baker Street two way - update

Work is now under way on Baker Street, as these photos show, taken on 17th August. Six of the seven junctions currently being worked on are on schedule.

Gloucester Place – Blandford Street had an unsafe basement and you may have noticed that works have been halted at this junction. Traffic Management has been removed from site and FM Conway is re-programming this junction now that the basement has been made safe by its owner.

You can sign up for further updates here.

Fibre Broadband

We are pleased to announce Councillors have been working to improve connectivity throughout Westminster and that another 440 residents and businesses connected to the Howland Street and Marylebone exchanges now have access to fibre broadband.

Any residents and businesses can check availability via the Openreach website and can see which ISPs offer fibre service in their area by clicking here.

Licensing Matters

Our Licensing Inspectors did a sweep of all Licensed Premises in our Ward on 11th August.

Pedicabs (which do not require a licence) continue to be an issue outside Selfridges. Our Licensing inspectors moved on nine out of eleven which were causing an obstruction of the pavement and will continue monitor them. Inspectors also ensure that restaurants bars and cafés all comply with their licenses.

Moxon Street

The third meeting of the Community Liaison Group (CLG) for the Moxon Street Car Park site, will take place on Thursday 31st August, starting at 6.30pm. The meeting will take place at Aubaine, 7 Moxon Street, Marylebone, London W1U 4EP.

Should you wish to attend, please RSVP here.

Hallam and Bolsover Street

Your Councillors have been working to swap motorcycle bays with residents parking in the above streets following complaints of motor bikes revving engines.

Work is due to start on Monday 11th September.

Westminster residents to benefit from improved GP Services

It is now easier for residents in Westminster to make a GP appointment at a time that suits them, including evenings, weekends and bank holidays. GPs and nurses can now offer patients appointments from 6.30pm-8pm, Monday to Friday and from 8am-8pm, Saturday and Sunday.

These new hours are in addition to existing GP services, meaning that residents can now pre-book GP and nurse appointments from 8am-8pm seven days a week.

Any patient registered with a Westminster GP can access these new appointments, which can be booked at your local GP practice or by calling NHS 111 when your GP practice is closed. This is a really exciting time for Westminster residents as they will now be able to make an appointment with a GP or nurse at a time and in a place that is convenient for them seven days a week.

This new offering is set to improve GP services as well as:

• Improving patient experience

• Reducing avoidable A&E visits and unscheduled hospital admissions.

Neville Purssell, Chair, Central London Clinical Commissioning Group said: “Our aim is to make GP services quicker, safer and accessible to all. Especially for parents, carers and people with work commitments. We are really pleased to announce that patients will now benefit from more accessible GP services. Previously, patients have told us that they were concerned about the lack of access to GP and nurse appointments. Offering evening and weekend appointments helps to tackle this issue.”

For more information or to book an appointment with a GP or nurse please contact your local GP practice or call NHS 111.
