Construction

It has been a particularly active period for planning applications in the ward. As well as advising on a number of individual applications, there have also been a number of major applications where we are supporting a number of local residents. There is also a consultation on proposed changes to the junction of Edgware Road and Harrow Road and we would welcome feedback from local people on these schemes.

The Warrington Pub

There were several applications for the pub including a proposal to put a Mansard roof on top of the property to create five new bedrooms. There was a second proposal for a side extension and finally one to use the balcony at the front of the property. Your local councillors are working on behalf of a number of residents to oppose the Mansard extension which we think is of poor design and would not be in keeping for this listed building or the surrounding area. We are also concerned about the balcony and are seeking to either stop its use or at least restrict the hours of use to ensure a limited impact on local residents. We are also looking to ensure that the side extension does not compromise the highway or trees or any means of escape. For details of the planning application please click here.

Ark Paddington Green School

At the time of writing, a new consultation has started after your local councillors pushed for additional information to be provided following the original planning application submitted last autumn. In particular, we requested that the original proposal to remove all the trees was amended. Secondly, we requested that a full transport plan be produced to explain how the additional pupils would arrive at the school. We still have concerns about the application and will continue to support local residents. We urge those living nearby the school to respond to the new consultation. 5 Kingdom Street

This application is not in the ward, but it is a significant building that will be viewed from this area. It is the first building as you come along the Westway and will be seen from Blomfield Road and Warrington Crescent in particular. The proposal is a building that will be 19 storeys high as compared to the current approved building which would be 13 storeys in height which we believe is high enough. If you are concerned about this proposal, we would encourage you to respond on the council’s website. For details of the planning application please click here.

More Police in Marylebone

Tuesday, 3 June, 2025
The single most important issue that residents tell us matters to them is feeling safe when walking around the area.

Unfortunately, we regularly receive reports about shoplifting in Marylebone. We have managed to get the council to install several CCTV cameras.
