Ultrafast broadband services are coming to Hallfield Estate
Hallfield Estate is set to be enabled with full fibre-optic Internet services. Our target is to make ultrafast Internet services of up to 1,000Mbps available to all residents on Hallfield Estate before the end of 2017. Councillor Robert Davis, who as Cabinet member for business has responsibility for extending Broadband coverage across the City has taken a lead on the project.
Following resident consultation by City West Homes earlier in the year the council granted permission for Community Fibre Ltd to install its fibre-optic cables at Hallfield Estate. Community Fibre have recently submitted its Listed Building Consent application to the council's planning team who will check that their installation complies with the special listed status of Hallfield Estate and that the aesthetic impact of their installation is acceptable.
Grosvenor, Regency and Churchill Estates have already had the Community Fibre service installed and resident feedback has been excellent.
For more information about the services Community Fibre can provide please see their website at www.communityfibre.co.uk.
Action against takeaway nuisance
Residents in Kensington Gardens Square have faced constant disturbance from scooter drivers working for delivery companies like Deliveroo picking up orders from Nando’s in Westbourne Grove. The premises, which has planning permission as a restaurant rather than a takeaway, had seen the proportion of business from takeaway orders rise following the rise of takeaway apps. This meant that residents where constantly disturbed by motorcycles riding through the square and drivers waiting to pick up deliveries.
Councillors Andrew Smith and Susie Burbridge have supported residents by backing action against the restaurant for breaching its planning permission. The City Council took planning enforcement action against Nando’s which the restaurant has agreed to abide by and stop Deliveroo and other takeaway app drivers from picking up from the restaurant.
We hope that this action will significantly reduce the problems that residents have faced, but we will remain vigilant to ensure that there is no further breach of planning permission.
