Action by Westminster Conservatives to tackle rough sleeping across the city means that 75% of those contacted do not spend a second night out on the street.

We know rough sleeping is a continuing issue in Westminster, with nearly all rough sleepers arriving here from outside the borough. The Council spends over £6m a year - more than any other UK local authority - to help rough sleepers find sustainable accommodation, tackle mental and physical problems such as substance abuse, and, if they have social support networks in their home towns or countries, help them reconnect.

Antonia Cox, Cabinet Member for Public Protection said: "There is a route off the streets for everyone rough sleeping in Westminster. Residents and people who work in the city can help us help rough sleepers by alerting our outreach teams via streetlink.org.uk or calling  0300 500 0914. With your help, no-one need spend a second night out."

Through close collaborative working with charities like Connexions at St Martins, St Mungos, the Passage and Veterans Aid, Westminster Council’s outreach and assessment services have already reduced the nightly total of people sleeping rough, however we know there is more to do.

Westminster Conservatives plan to cut significantly the numbers sleeping rough over the next five years. You can help the council reach rough sleepers by contacting streetlink.org.uk to report individuals you are concerned about - or download the streetlink app from your app store.
