Fly Tipping

For many residents who live in flats, the big black bins that are located around Little Venice ward are an essential part of their daily lives. Because of the high level of demand, these bins are emptied three times a day, seven days a week. However, there have recently been some problems with bulky rubbish being left next to bins, which is a form of illegal fly-tipping. Your local councillors have been working with the council’s waste disposal teams to reduce incidences of dumping at hot spots such as the black bins at St. Mary’s Square.

The council will also be sending out a reminder to residents about twice weekly doorstep mixed recycling collections available in Little Venice (see here to find out your recycling collection days). You can order clear disposable recycling bags online or collect them from Maida Vale Library, the Little Venice Sports Centre or the Mobile Recycling Centre at Warwick Avenue tube every Saturday 10am-3pm. We have also requested that as many big black recycling bins as possible are unlocked and unmixed (not requiring recycling to be sorted and inserted into narrow slots). We believe that this will increase recycling across the ward and reduce the incidences of recycling bags being left by the side of the bins.

Cllr Green said, “Disposing of waste responsibly can have a positive impact on the planet. All Little Venice residents have access to two mixed recycling collections a week. With recycling literally on your doorstep there’s no need not to recycle or to dump recycling bags by the big black bins.”

If there are problems with fly-tipping in your area or you have questions about recycling please email: [email protected].

Labour-run Council belatedly tries to distance itself from the Labour Government’s proposed planning reforms

Thursday, 14 August, 2025
Westminster Conservatives are delighted that the current Labour council has finally publicly agreed with the Conservative councillors’ position on Angela Rayner’s proposed planning reforms. This Labour Government has proposed completely removing local councillors from the decision-making process on almost all applications. Westminster Conservatives pointed out that this is undemocratic and could undermine public trust in planning decisions back in March.
