After a long campaign by Little Venice Conservative Councillor Melvyn Caplan, works will start shortly to fix two long-standing issues at Hall and Braithwaite Towers. This has been a frustrating time for residents, but Cllr Caplan worked with the residents’ committee to make sure that their wishes were granted. Residents were clear that they wanted the works rectified and this is what Cllr Caplan has made sure will happen. In addition, these works will be done at no cost to lessees with previous bills also being refunded.

All external-facing louvres will be replaced, as the existing ones were letting in water. The new louvres will have watertight seals and, as part of the works, will be inspected to ensure that they are fitted correctly.
The second piece of work will see vinyl communal flooring replaced in areas which have been damaged by moisture. Seven specific floors have been identified which are floors 4,10 and 18 in Braithwaite Tower and 1, 4, 5 and 6 in Hall Tower.

All residents should have received letters from CityWest Homes to confirm the timescale and the works to be carried out. The works should take around two months to complete.

Little Venice Conservative Councillor Melvyn Caplan commented: “Residents are entitled to have such defects put right and the role of a local councillor is to represent them and get these issues resolved. I am pleased that I have been able to get this outcome for residents who have been very patient but can now look forward to the works being completed and this matter being resolved to their satisfaction.
