Did you know that almost a third of the rubbish we throw away is food waste?
As part of Westminster’s commitment to be carbon Net Zero as a city by 2040, your Conservative run council is rolling out its new food waste collection service.
This is an additional service which comes at no extra cost to rate-payers and in Pimlico will not result in the loss of any existing rubbish collections. All food waste collected is sent to a facility where it is turned into natural gas and agricultural fertiliser.
Cllr James Spencer said: “This service has already been piloted in both the Tachbrook and Churchill Gardens estates and has proved to be so successful it won an award from industry and sustainability experts.”
“The new service has been really welcomed by residents wanting to reduce their carbon footprint, and we are excited to see this service rolled out across the rest of Pimlico in the spring.”
