Westminster Conservatives have launched their Manifesto outlining plans for the City if successfully re-elected in the local elections on 3rd May.

At a series of Action Days across Westminster, Conservative Candidates delivered their message to local people - a vote for them will safeguard excellent local services for the lowest Council Tax in UK and create a even cleaner, greener and healthier city and continue to reform the planning system.

Conservative Council Leader, Cllr Nickie Aiken said: “Voters have a clear choice on 3rd May: keep and protect the strong track record that Westminster Conservatives have delivered for you or risk losing the services you have come to expect and value.

“Our vision is for Westminster to be London’s greenest, cleanest borough. Our Manifesto outlines our plan to build upon what we have already achieved and go even further. We are putting improving air quality and undertaking the largest council house building at the top of our agenda.”

If elected Westminster Conservatives’ priorities will be to:

  • Protect your excellent services and low council tax
  • Ensure our city becomes even cleaner, greener and healthier
  • Look after our most vulnerable and strive to improve the lives of everyone
  • Strengthen the voice of residents through open and transparent government

As part of their overarching Manifesto, Westminster Conservatives have also incorporated both Green and Digital Manifestos. They have also included a section highlighting their stance to defend residents’ interests if the Mayor of London continues with his plans to pedestrianise Oxford Street.

The Manifesto also includes Westminster Conservatives’ record of action undertaken since being re-elected four years ago. The Judge Us By Our Record section outlines a wide number of the promises the Conservatives pledged to deliver in their 2014 Manifesto including the promises to protect the city’s outstanding parks and green spaces; support more rough sleepers off the streets; introduce a new basement policy; support our schools to continue to improve results; and improve the quality of privately rented homes.

“At the heart of serving the people of Westminster must be to be inclusive and accessible,” said Cllr Aiken. “That is why we pledge to continue to expand how local people can tell what they think of the council and offer suggestions on how things could be improved. We have already begun to reform our planning system and this will continue if re-elected. We will ensure residents have a bigger say in major applications at an earlier stage and enable them to speak at planning committees.

I believe we have outlined a plan to make Westminster an even better place to live, work and visit. A City where all can achieve, a city for everyone. ”
