Labour’s Chancellor is reintroducing the Mansion Tax, but this time aimed at family homes. With speculation that thresholds could begin at just £500,000, this policy will hit ordinary Westminster homeowners, long-term residents and pensioners who have worked hard all their lives.
Last week, Conservative Group Leader Paul Swaddle challenged Westminster's Labour Leader to join a united, cross-party effort to oppose this deeply unfair proposal and stand up for the people he was elected to represent.
Paul said:
"I offered the Labour Leader a straightforward opportunity to stand up for Westminster residents by co-signing a letter to the Chancellor opposing the Mansion Tax.
He refused.
Cross-party working is always welcome. But Labour only want it when it is convenient for them.
Instead, Labour offered waffle and excuses when residents needed action.
The people of Westminster deserve better than a Leader who will not lead."
Westminster Conservatives will continue to put the people of Westminster before party politics every time.
You can fight back with us by supporting our campaign now before this tax becomes official Labour policy.
