Congestion Charge Update

Monday, 30 August, 2021
  • Local News

The Mayor of London promised that the hours for the Congestion Charge, the fee and the exemptions would revert to their pre-pandemic levels this September.

TfL has now launched a consultation which, if confirmed, will mean from 28 February 2022 the charge will stay in force from noon until 6pm at weekends and the increase to £15 will be retained.

There are now less than 50 days for people to respond. Watch our local GLA Member, Tony Devenish talk about the consultation above.

It is disappointing that the Mayor is proposing keeping the Charge at weekends. Plans to re-introduce the residents’ discount after withdrawing it to new applicants in August 2020 will be welcomed by many.

For more information on the proposals, you can visit the TfL

consultation page. The consultation will run until Wednesday 6 October.

BBC London: Westminster Council calls on the Mayor to support Soho businesses

Tuesday, 11 August, 2026
Cllr Tim Barnes explains that just two Westminster wards, West End and St James's, account for 26% of all "small crime" across the whole of London, which he says is exactly why some regulation of venues is necessary. He again pointed to the Mayor's record on transport as the bigger barrier to a good night out, saying Sadiq Khan "keeps cutting the night buses and won't bring in a late-night tube service on Thursdays."
