Climate Action Day

Last weekend, to mark the UK hosting COP26 in Glasgow, Westminster City Council hosted a successful climate open day at W.E.C.H. Community Centre.

People attending enjoyed a whole host of activities from riding a Veolia Electric scooter, to training our green fingers potting plants and looking at ways to cut our energy usage and cut fuel poverty in Westminster.

Among those to attend were Leader of Westminster City Council Rachael Robathan and the London Assembly Member for West Central and Westminster Councillor, Tony Devenish.

Rachael, who is leading Westminster's response to the climate emergency, said:

"It was a pleasure to see so much energy and enthusiasm at our Climate Action Open Day in Maida Vale. Local people, young and old, full of ideas for reducing our impact on the environment."

Last week, Rachael launched the Council's Climate Action Plan. Read it here.

Tony, who is the London Assembly’s Deputy Chairman for the Environment, added,

“I was delighted to support Westminster Council’s community climate action day. I was pleased to support our communities, and the Leader and Deputy Leader of our City Council in this grassroots event to encourage everyone from school children to senior citizens to help us all make the changes required to meet our climate goals up to 2030."

Our Plan for Safe Streets

It's time for Safe Streets in Westminster

Wednesday, 1 April, 2026
Under Labour, crime has got worse. Phone theft, antisocial behaviour, public disorder and drug dealing have all increased. People think twice before using their phone on the street. Shopkeepers have accepted shoplifting as a daily reality. Families avoid their local parks. And schools have lost community police officers. All under Sadiq Khan’s watch as Westminster Labour have overseen managed decline.
