Challenging Labour's Family Homes tax

Labour is preparing to introduce a new Family Home Tax, formerly reported as a Mansion Tax, aimed at family homes. With speculation it could begin at just £500,000 this would place thousands of ordinary Westminster households in the firing line. Speaking earlier today, Westminster Leader Paul Swaddle outlined the Conservatives' opposition to the proposals.

"A Family Home Tax is out of touch with Westminster’s reality. People in Westminster face some of the highest housing costs in the country, limited supply, rising rents and growing pressures on services. Labour’s proposals simply do not reflect the challenges our residents live with every day."

Labour Leadership crumbles under pressure

"Lask week, I challenged Westminster's Labour Leader to join a united, cross-party effort to oppose the Chancellor's deeply unfair proposal and stand up for the people of Westminster.

His response? Excuses, waffle and inaction.

Labour talk endlessly about fairness. But when Westminster families need defending, they choose party politics and leave residents to suffer the cost.

At City Hall, Sadiq Khan has offered nothing. No clarity, no reassurance and no willingness to stand up for Westminster families.

And nationally, Labour Ministers have repeatedly refused to rule out taxing homes in the very communities already facing significant pressures.

Westminster residents deserve better than silence while Labour prepare to target family homes."

Conservatives are standing up to Labour’s Family Home Tax

"Westminster Conservatives are challenging Labour’s unfair Family Home Tax because residents deserve answers.

Why will Labour not oppose a tax that would hit ordinary households across our city? Why will they not defend families, pensioners and long-term residents who simply want to stay in the place they call home?

Westminster Conservatives are clear:

•    Stop Labour’s tax on family homes across Westminster
•    Protect families, pensioners and long-term residents
•    Defend Westminster from unfair and immoral tax burdens

Westminster Conservatives will always stand up for the people of Westminster and the city we are proud to call home.

You can fight back with us by supporting our campaign  now before this tax becomes official Labour policy:

By signing this petition, you are sending a clear message:

•    No new taxes on family homes.
•    No targeting families, pensioners and long-term residents.
•    No more silence from Labour.

The people of Westminster deserve a council that defends family homes, not one that stays silent while the Labour government introduces new taxes that would hit ordinary households."
