Central London ultra low emission zone to be launched in April

Final preparations are underway by Transport for London (TfL) to launch the Central London Ultra Low Emission Zone (ULEZ) on 8th April 2019. This initiative is being introduced by the Mayor of London Sadiq Khan. If a vehicle does not meet the ULEZ standard, the driver will have to pay a charge. For cars, motorcycles and vans (up to and including 3.5 tonnes) this will be £12.50 per day on top of the current Congestion Charge. BBC London: Westminster Council calls on the Mayor to support Soho businesses

Cllr Tim Barnes explains that just two Westminster wards, West End and St James's, account for 26% of all "small crime" across the whole of London, which he says is exactly why some regulation of venues is necessary. He again pointed to the Mayor's record on transport as the bigger barrier to a good night out, saying Sadiq Khan "keeps cutting the night buses and won't bring in a late-night tube service on Thursdays."
