Baker Street & Gloucester Place two-way switch 21st - 24th February 2019

The work to reintroduce two-way traffic on Baker Street and Gloucester Place www.bakerstreettwoway.co.uk is now in its final stages with the switch over planned to be undertaken from 21st – 24th February (weather permitting). This means closure of these roads as follows: 

Phase 1: Gloucester Place and Portman Street, between Oxford Street and Marylebone Road, will close at 8pm Thursday 21st February. 

Phase 2: Gloucester Place between Marylebone Road and Park Road will close at 10am Friday 22nd February. 

Phase 3: Park Road and Baker Street from Rossmore Road to Marylebone Road will close at 8pm Friday 22nd February. 

Phase 4: Baker Street and Orchard Street from Marylebone Road to Oxford Street, and Oxford Street from Marble Arch to Orchard Street will close at 8am Saturday 23rd February. 

If residents have concerns or any additional issues about the changes please contact they can contact their local Councillors.

Labour-run Council belatedly tries to distance itself from the Labour Government’s proposed planning reforms

Westminster Conservatives are delighted that the current Labour council has finally publicly agreed with the Conservative councillors’ position on Angela Rayner’s proposed planning reforms. This Labour Government has proposed completely removing local councillors from the decision-making process on almost all applications. Westminster Conservatives pointed out that this is undemocratic and could undermine public trust in planning decisions back in March.
