Pedicabs

In joint action involving the Council’s City Inspectors, the Home Office and the police, a coordinated operation was carried out just prior to Christmas at four locations - Oxford Street, Bond Street, Regent Street and Covent Garden.

The primary focus was to target the illegal use of rickshaws and pedicabs, and followed a similar operation in November. The operation involved removing vehicles under road traffic legislation and issuing Community Protection Notices prepared jointly by the Council and by the police, addressing the behaviour of pedicab drivers.  In all, 30 pedicabs were removed during this latest operation. These joint operations follow lobbying for the police to take a tougher stance against pedicabs on our streets.
