Local Little Venice Councillors Melvyn Caplan and Lorraine Dean are leading calls for more police patrolling Little Venice. They explain,
The single most important issue that residents tell us matters to them is feeling safe when walking around the area. Unfortunately, we regularly receive reports about shoplifting in Clifton Road, phone snatching around Warwick Avenue, numerous incidents along the Edgware Road as well as graffiti on underground trains and many incidents of drug dealing around Rembrandt Gardens and Paddington Green.
We have managed to get the council to install several CCTV cameras in Blomfield Road, Clifton Road, Formosa Street and Warwick Avenue. There are also many CCTV cameras on the Hall Park Estate and at John Aird Court. This should
give local people some reassurance. However, whilst it is welcome, most residents feel that this is not enough to stop the crimes that are occurring each day.Residents say it is about time that we saw more police patrolling our streets as used to be the case. We are calling on the Mayor of London Sadiq Khan to get more police on our streets and this should be his number one priority.
Please sign our petition, which calls for more police patrolling the streets of the Little Venice ward.
