Turn Balmoral Castle site into Homes for the elderly!

Pub CGE

Support Councillor Murad Gassanly’s call for the Balmoral Castle site to be turned into Homes for the elderly!

There is a particular shortage of sheltered accommodation and community-supported homes for our ageing population and those living with disabilities in Churchill Gardens.

The derelict Balmoral Castle Pub on Churchill Gardens estate has been in scaffolding since 2006 at a huge cost to Council Tax-payers. This is at a time when the housing crisis in Westminster is affecting thousands of families.

There is a particular shortage of sheltered accommodation and community-supported homes – specialist types of housing for our ageing population and those living with disabilities. We need as many such homes as possible in Pimlico and the wider south Westminster area.

Churchill Conservative Councillor Murad Gassanly has been calling for the Balmoral Castle site to be used for precisely this type of social housing:

“This is a unique opportunity to make a real dent in Westminster’s sheltered housing waiting lists. Dozens of elderly residents in Churchill Gardens are living in unsuitable accommodation and are waiting to be rehoused. Balmoral Castle is an eyesore which can be turned into a real asset for our community and provide high-quality homes for those most in need”.
