It’s been more than a year since councillors and our Greater Assembly Member Tony Devenish had a meeting with Mayor Sadiq Khan and Transport for London (TfL) about the ongoing problems with tube noise and vibration along the Victoria line southbound track between Victoria and Pimlico stations.
At the meeting, the Mayor and Transport for London promised action would be taken to reduce to tube noise. This has not happened and now TfL are refusing to meet with local people for an update meeting about replacing tube sleepers.
Cllr Tony Devenish, our Greater London Assembly (GLA) Member, explains: “I have been in contact with TfL for nearly three years to push for upgrades to the Victoria Line to reduce noise. Now they refuse to meet us and will not even tell us the current level of tube noise for properties in Pimlico without written permission from every single resident. Local people want a quieter Victoria Line, not a silent TfL.”
Now it is time to take action and sign our petition demanding that TfL meet with local people and give us a timeline of when they will take action on tube noise.
What local people have to say:
Resident on Eccleston Square: “It’s terrible! Now we have the Night Tube as well the noise levels at weekends are almost constant. I can’t get any sleep sometimes.”
Resident from the Moreton Triangle: “We need action to take place now. We are having to live through an absolute nightmare. It’s wrong TfL are not listening to us.”
Resident from Warwick Square: “It is unacceptable that residents’ genuine concerns are not being listened to. TfL have no idea what it is like to live with constant tube noise disrupting your way of life.”
