The developers behind the redevelopment of the former National Magazine House, on the corner of Marshall Street and Broadwick Street have submitted a planning application to Westminster City Council that includes proposals for a nightclub in the basement.
West End Conservatives believes this development raises real concerns and there is a risk that it will lead to increases in noise and anti-social behaviour along Marshall Street.
A single venue with a capacity in the hundreds is a very different proposition to the majority of venues along Carnaby Street and the immediate vicinity. It could mark a significant change for residents of Marshall Street and Broadwick Street.
Current West End Conservative Councillors, Jonathan Glanz and Timothy Barnes, are working with local activists Eoghain Murphy and Julie Redmond to combat these risks and protect the interests of local residents. We are asking the developer to reconsider the proposal. At the very least, they must reduce the hours, manage taxis and limit noise so local people can sleep easily at night.
