Churchill Conservatives welcome the Council’s decision to proceed with the Ebury Bridge estate project. This is a great opportunity to increase the amount of affordable housing on the estate.
Local Churchill Conservative Councillor Murad Gassanly explains: “Having dealt with a lot of casework on Ebury Bridge I understand the urgent need to get building. Residents are awaiting new homes and overcrowded households are struggling. The Council is working with the residents to develop a new scheme”.
There are three key priorities for the project:
- Over 50 council tenants at Ebury Bridge, adults and children, live in overcrowded conditions. These people should be prioritised for new flats on the estate.
- More social-rent housing for those on homeless waiting lists and more intermediate rent housing for working families.
- The rights of leaseholders and shop-keepers on the estate must be protected.
Churchill Conservatives have set out our commitments on Ebury Bridge:
- Full right of return to new flats on the estate for tenants and leaseholders.
- Significantly more social and intermediate housing than is currently present.
- Prioritising overcrowded tenants for new homes on Ebury Bridge.
- Residents to be closely involved from the outset in developing a new scheme.
