It’s time for Labour to answer for their waste and reckless spending

It’s time for Labour to answer for their waste and reckless spending.

This week, Labour will announce their budget at Westminster City Council.

I will hold Westminster Labour to account for its record, demand straight answers, and set out a Conservative plan to restore value for money.

Let’s look back at Labour’s time in office and set the record straight:

  • £27 million wasted after the Geoffrey Osborne housing contractor failure
  • 57 per cent self-awarded pay rises for senior Labour councillors
  • Up to 75 per cent council tax hikes projected over the next four years
  • Backing the Labour Government’s Family Home Tax, targeting ordinary households
  • Surrendering Oxford Street to London Mayor Sadiq Khan
  • Distracted by pet projects while standards in Westminster drop: crime rises, streets get dirtier, and enforcement goes missing

And their most recent stunt: raiding £19 million in reserves to pay for an election gimmick of lower Council Tax increases this year, with no plan to fix council funding the future.

The results speak for themselves: reckless spending, higher costs for residents, and falling standards.

Westminster Labour have let our City down, wasted your money and failed to stand up for local people.

It does not have to be this way.

Westminster Conservatives have a plan to put residents first and restore value for money, with a clear focus on Safe Streets, a Clean City, and Real Action.

A Conservative-led council is committed to:

  • Stopping reckless waste
  • Tightening oversight of spending
  • Restoring transparency so residents can see what their money delivers their priorities

We will modernise council services, protect frontline delivery, and keep council tax as low as possible so every pound counts.

Westminster deserves better than Labour’s waste. It deserves a Council that provides value for money and delivers on your priorities: Safe Streets, a Clean City and Real Action.
