Your local Abbey Road councillors Hannah Galley and Caroline Sargent recently spoke to residents on Springfield Road about various issues and concerns. We were joined by Festus Akinbusoye who leads our Conservative Action Team and a former Police and Crime Commissioner.
A common theme from our discussions was the safety and security on your road following a recent spate of burglaries. We understand how deeply concerning this is for our residents and is sadly a reflection of the way that London has been run under the current Labour Mayor, Sadiq Khan.
When issues have been raised with us, we have alerted our local neighbourhood policing team. However, we want to do even more within our powers as local councillors to help.
One way in which we can do this is through the installation of CCTV cameras at both ends of this road. This would be an extremely helpful resource for the police when crimes are reported. We have already secured one such camera on the junction of Springfield and Abbey Road, however we will ask that this is repositioned to capture the entrance to the street fully.
But we would also like to request a second camera from the council for the junction of Loudon Road and Springfield to ensure that both approaches onto Springfield Road are captured.
We are requesting support from local residents to make the case for this, so if you would like to see an additional camera for this road, please do sign our petition below. You can also opt to stay in touch with us so we can keep you updated on our progress.
